Kim Jong-Un ‘struggling’, To control military

Far from struggling, those analysts point out that Kim Jong-Un appears to have a firm grip on the North Korean armed forces — so firm that he has successfully removed senior generals. That includes four officials that actually carried the casket of his father at the state funeral.

“He is proving he is the leader, the decider…a leader in power, a leader from the get-go,” said Joseph DeTrani, a former North Korean ambassador.

While the world waits to see when, or if, the next much-ballyhooed missile test will launch, the jokes will probably continue. At the end of the day, almost everyone seems to agree that it isn’t about starting a nuclear war. It’s about blackmail.

“He’s also using the nuclear program as a bargaining chip for aid, to keep the public behind him,” said Kim Hyun-He.

Whether you think he’s a pathetic blackmailer, a serious danger, or just a joke, Kim Jong-Un’s struggle for respect is far from over.

Both immediately swallowed cyanide capsules. The man died almost instantly but Kim survived and was brought to Seoul, where she confessed and was eventually pardoned.

Kim published a book entitled “Tears of My Soul” describing her training at a North Korean spy school, and donated the proceeds to families of victims of the bombing.

She married one of her security guards and now lives in Seoul, still fearful that North Korean assassins could strike at any time, ABC said.

South Korea raised its surveillance alert level to “vital threat” – the last stage before war – amid fears that Pyongyang is set to launch a medium range missile, capping weeks of threats and psychological warfare. Seoul said the chances of a launch were “very high” ahead of the birth date next Monday of the North’s founder, Kim Il-sung. Intelligence sources say the missile is likely to be the untested Musudan, whose range of up to 3,500km technically put?s Japan and the US territory of Guam within reach.

Though many military experts doubt the North’s missile capabilities, Japan has already deployed Patriot missiles in Tokyo and Aegis destroyers to its coast, and is threatening to shoot down the North Korean missile.

The North’s official news agency warned on Tuesday that the situation on the Korean Peninsular is “inching closer to a thermonuclear war”. But Ms Kim told ABC she believes North Korea is merely “using its nuclear program... to push South Korea and the United States for concessions”.
